Debranded N96 Review

Hey all, frequent reader, first time poster.

Had a trusty N95 for a year which I debranded to work perfectly.
I had a Samsung Omnia for 8 weeks which was full of bugs and problems, ultimately leading to me complaining so much to Vodafone that they swapped it for the N96 - which I originally wanted!!

I've managed to debrand it using NSS and am using the UK & Ireland product code.

The phone was on Vodafone branding.

Got the phone today. Same as the N95 when I got that (branded), slow, buggy, unresponsive. Nice phone, but just wasn't good enough, and I'm a heavy multi-media user and texter.

Now......

It's unlocked, moves between menu's very quickly. The Maps were very good before and are now even more responsive, the gallery works perfectly whereas it was previously buggy.

There's really not a lot else to say, the N96 is a fantastic phone, and once debranded it's the way it should be - perfect.

Scotty

Sounds real good ,
All who debrands look to always get much better phones,
I have never buy through a operator (only unlocked devices)
so I dont know anything about this debranding things.

I wonder what the operators make with the phones ?

Mines only just came from Vodafone.

They have their own firmware and applications etc.

These slow the phone down SO much, and often restrict many features on the phone - frustratingly.

The N96 is £500 sim free, so getting it free from Vodafone was the way to go. when you know what you're doing, it's pretty easy.

Happy bunny!

Mmm, was lucky. If it still had the bugs and you had debranded, you would not have been able to take it back. Just be aware of this when debranding.
