Could you tell me what i need to download, will i need 3g to do this? 3g seems to only be available in half of Cambridge!

3G is simply a faster version of GPRS/EDGE. The same as HSDPA is a far speedier version of 3G. This will appear with a "3.5G" status on the top left of your N96.
What service you get depends on your network's range in that area.
You could download the iPlayer with WAP if you wanted to.

I'm not being rude here, but search Google. That's what I did and I was able to find out how to get the iPlayer in around 30 seconds.
