update on my n96
had the n96 about a month now did switch back to the n82 for a couple of days when i had some troubles with my n96 but when i got it back reflashed and working again i couldnt reist loading up the memory and taking it for a whirl again
there wa something in its dark exterior calling me to have a play with it and explore the phone over again so i put the n82 back in its box formatted my 16gb memory card and the phone 16gb and loaded up the beast with mp3s and films (mainly mp3s) installed my fave apps again and away i went its now been about 5 days since i got it back i use the phone for alarm in the morning bluetooth stereo to my sony stereo while i get ready and the phone has a little charge mp3 on the way to work while iam at work , few calls , lots of sms , little internet , bit of sat nav , maybe a few pics all while the mp3 player is still playing wack it on charge while i have a bite to eat for lunch , again bluetooth some msuic to my sony stereo while i have my lunch and surf the web quickly , back to work and more of the above and lots more mp3 finish work wack it on charge while i get changed then some calls and when iam out and about driving to my friends and stuff i can bluetooth the music to my car headunit as you can see the n96 gets used quite a bit during the day its handling it quite well actually , not as bad as many people make out , its not perfect for example today after about 2 hours of mp3 , the music player went crazy and sort of sounded like it was slowly fast forwards its hard to explain but it was extremley weird , i reached for the remote pressed skip back and it played perfect obvously a glitch there then as its done it before also at work it switched off and on once i noticed as i was using my mp3 player and it obvously stopped working so thast 2 litlle glitches that happend today alone but as you can also see i do use the features off the phone batery life is about the same as the n95-1 and if you use it like me you will need charge top ups like you would have with the n95-1 but iam used to wacking it on charge if iam near a charger even a little charge will help and it helps your battery to top it up anyways :-) phone has stayed in quite nice condition over the month but i dont keep it in my pocket with keys and stuff and i have a martin screen protector on it which is very good quality did have an issue with the phone freezing upon boot i managed to brick the phone but thats my fault for the way i tryed to remedy the problem , if your n96 freezes upon boot just use the 3 finger method to hard reset it , this will fix it but youll loose your settings and stuff love sat nav via the 2.8 inch screen and garmin v4.2.20 works well with it and works with large poi files which is nice the gps reception is also very good ive used the camera a bit more since ive had it back as i was used to using the n82 camera a bit and i must say that if you have a steady hand in good light the camera can produce pretty good pictures and ive noticed you can also check out the exif data in the picture details whic is a nice touch of the new feature pack it does seeem easy to get blurry pics though as it is harder to press the button then most camera phones and it seems to pick the shake up quite a bit the flash isnt to great , to close and the pics are quite white from the duel led to far and you get a bit of noise in dark pics , saying that i do have some nice shots taken off my dog in a dark room and they have come out very crisp overall iam liking the n96 why shouldnt i , i loved the n95 and what it bought to the table and to me the n96 feels like a more refined n95 it still has a long way to go to be a stable as the n95 is (cor who thought youd hear the words stable and n95 in the same sentance 2 years ago lol) but nokia done it and iam sure they will do the same witht he n96 it isnt no where near as bad as the n95-1 when it came out but it has its issues like any new nokia phone seems to but hey thats a differnt subject anyways iam off to check out nsu and see if v12 is avalible yet i dont want to brick my phone with phoneix but iam getting so temted to i wish nokia would hurry up :-) Last edited by buxz777; 11-20-2008 at 10:20 PM. |
