There was a way to get TomTom working with the internal GPS on the N95 and I assume it'd be the same for the N96. Unfortunately it involves using a cracked version of TomTom, so I'm unable to discuss it here due to the forum rules.

I know the rules about crkd apps etc but i was wondering, would a genuine bought version of tomtom work with internal gps if you just used the tiny file that you get when you use the naughty version? surely a prog that tells tomtom to use the internal gps isnt illegal?
just a thought........ |

Getting it to use the internal GPS is not illegal in itself. However, I think that the files only works with a certain cracked copy of Tomtom - which is obviously not allowed in discussion on here.
If someone would like to try it with a legit version, by all means go ahead. And if it works, report back here. I don't think it does though, and while talk of third party file is allowed as its not cracked software, the discussion of the cracked version of Tomtom itself stops most discussion about it as the two are linked. It's a shame it is so, because being able to talk about the fix fully would be of benefit to many, and frankly in Tomtoms favour because it would mean at least some legit copies purchased, and also uptodate maps, services etc. But they only have themselves to blame. For what its worth, I have heard of a few people on AAS who have got TT working on the N96, but they are few and most have been plagued by problems, such as crashing and running very slow.
