i feel quite lucky

hi everyone
just a quick thread on nokia quality control

my mate got a n96 today at work , the slide on it is much looser then mine , it makes a noise when you press it down in at least three of the corners when the device is closed

even just pushing on the fron of the device can result in an annoying clicking noise quite simmilar to the n95 loose slider

when i compared the 2 phones there is a obvious difference in the way the two phones sit

when you look at the sides of the phones the one with the loose slide is sitting higher then the one that has the tight smooth slider

maybe its not sitting on the slide mechanism right iam not sure but there is a definite difference here and when you buy a phone surely it should be the same

ive heard people moaning about loose sliders on the n96 and now i know what they are talking about

i have been one of the lucky ones here and for once i got one with a tight slider

just a warning to anyone thinking of getting a n96

maybe ask if you can test the slider out on the handset before you sign the contract as ive seen today there is a big difference in the handsets and the slider quality

i wouldnt be happy with my mates n96 it feels alot cheaper due to the loose slider and it allmost rattles when you move it

very poor indeed and my mate isnt happy with his slide ön his n96 at all

If your buying off the internet, you don't get the option to test the handset first. But you can return and cancel the contract within 14 days of inception if you wish.

I was pleased when I first got my n95-2, the slider was very tight, better than friends and other n95-2's that I had seen before. No loosness at all it was perfect.
Eventually, after use the slider got worse and worse. It is now awefull, very loose and wobly and I'm very carfull with my phone.
I droped it once getting out of my car, other than that it has mild surface scratches. Very well cared for but about 9 months of use and the slider is shot.
I think it is time for a refurb.

Take care of your n96 or it could end up like my n95.

Have you considered the slider fix available on here from Sp00k?

Fair enough, it just seems very 'restricted' compared to other forums i visit regarding phones and what not. Anyhow, taken on board, i'll keep my ****ty humour away from here!
