Fix for dust under screen

I had a build up of dust under the screen somehow and so decided to clean it. I got the T6 and took out the 4 screws and then carefully pulled off the front cover. But I have just discovered this is not neccessary!

The screen cover actualy comes off with ease using a little tool. Nokia have one called the SRT6 and is £8 from here:

Nokia SRT-6 Phone opening tool

What a rip off! I went into a little phone shop where i work and got one very similar made by BAKU, (dunno who they are ) for £1

Anyhow. All you do is slide the tool in between the screen and the phones silver edge and run it up and down, this releases the catches. I started on the right hand side, then to the top, then down the left side. Once the catches are releases the front screen comes out.

Then the battle begins! Getting rid of all dust! everytime i put it back on there was a bit waving at me :( Highly annoying considering the amount of films i watch on my phone. I got there in the end though.

Also, this must mean that the part is replaceable if it becomes servely scratched, i'm sure the part number is on it but i didn't make a note of it.

The part has some sticky backing on it near the top around the ear speaker but this comes off easy and doesn't effect it's stability once back on.

I hope someone finds this useful if you get this problem :2thumbup:

Or, if you have a 5800, the plectrum looks remarkably similar...

Update:

So I'm still getting dust and bits under my screen. I have now put some tape on one of the catches under the ear piece as i think this is where it is coming in. So far no bits have got through.

The problem of the strange watermark appearing as i mentioned above went away but has now returned and i've just cleaned it again, really strange!

Anyhow, i have just received a replacement screen that i'm going to try if the dust returns again to see if that makes a difference. You can get them on ebay but all of them were fake except the one i bought from this company:

Genuine Brand New Nokia N96 Front Lens LCD Screen Cover on eBay, also For 5 Series, For Nokia, Mobile Phone Fascias, Mobile Home Phones (end time 24-Apr-09 01:37:05 BST)

This is a genuine part, all the others on ebay i found i realised were fake because the n96 logo is printed too high on the screen, yes, eyes like a hawk
