it never seems THAT big until you live with it everyday. it's gets worse if you intend to put some kind of case on it. My N85 with a silicone case makes it as big as a N96. Chances are, you're going to want something to protect a $600 device, and anything other than the invisible shield thingy is going to add millimetres to every dimension. I can see it becoming so big that I stop treating it like a phone ie I might start putting it in my bag instead of my pocket. For me, I think anything you can't use with one hand is a little big. The iPhone is probably as big I would go, but that's just me.
What if you need to go out at night, and the device doesn't really fit into your jeans pocket? or it ruins the lines of your jacket in the breast pocket? What if you have to choose between the phone or a make-up kit in your minimalistic evening clutch? Do you revert back to something smaller like a 6300 for the evening? Would you have to transfer settings, contacts, calendar entries, etc from one phone to another? What if you only have one device? Anyway, I'm just extrapolating from the pictures and thinking out loud. I don't plan on getting one, but either way, size is something to think about with this device. We'll have to see when the device arrives whether it suits each individual, though. |

Not too bad looking really, although sadly I'm not seeing anything I can't already do on my Xperia (currently using SPB Mobile Shell 3, which has Widget-styled homescreen, and occasionally TF3D).
Browser is still not on a par with Opera in my Xperia either...

Looks like I maybe one of the first early adopters of the N97 here. I will document as much as I can for anyone who's interested, and will open a new thread for Q&A too.

Does this mean that you look like being one of 'The Favoured Ones" Micky? If so, I hope that we can rely on you to also find out what it doesn't do that it ought to, if anything, rather than confine yourself to enthusing solely over what it does do, as so many other 'reviewers' seem to...
Incidentally... I'd be interested to know if the N97 having a D-Pad will mean far better backwards compatibility with apps such as Mobitubia, etc. I'd like to be able to download clips from YouTube once again.

I was in Monaco just 2 weeks ago!! Oh well...
Seems really promising - love how we can swipe away the standby. As a photographer it's still a let down for the N97 to not have an upgraded lens or pixel count. I can imagine pictures would have looked absolutely mind-blowing on that screen too. Well done Nokia... Bring in the next one!
