What does the N97 do that the N95 doesnt?

With all these cool N97 videos around it's hard not to give in to temptation and grab one, especially if you're still having the N95-1 you bought 2 years a go.

Don't get me wrong, the N95-1 is still a great device, which leads me to ask:
aside from the new form factor, touch screen and S60v5, what does the N97 offer that'll really outshine the N95?

Well, you already said some of it. Touch, S60V5. Those are rather big differences on their own.

But also - qwerty, bigger screen, FM transmitter, micro USB, greater screen res, Dual LED flash, more memory (both operating and storage), and a fair bit more I cannot remember.

The N97 pretty much caters for everything i, and many other Media, blogger types, it allows you to share content easily, be it a website, photos, video, location, the list goes on.

I think the whole package outshines the N95 Leong.

Not a problem. And that's just the hardware side, as Micky pointed out, theres a lot softwarewise too.

i just want a great phone that is based on common sense and caters for the discerning gentleman. i don't want all this social networking gubbins.

i'm a pretty social animal and i do have friends in far flung places but i treat them with a little more respect and contact with them extends further than just uploading a photo and saying "take a look at that, if you can be bothered".

face it, the N97 is going to cost a shed load of cash with or without a contract so why burden it with rubbish which mainly appeals to the spotty faced shelf stacking brigade? (i said MAINLY appeals, micky)

Because the social networking brigade (of which my gf is part of, and she doesn't fit into the stereotype you made) is an ever increasing buying audiance. I don't like the social networking stuff either, but then it's just widgets that you can get rid of.

Of course, if it starts getting hardwired into the phone, then I'll start to get annoyed.

Is there going to be an FM Transmitter on the UK version of the Nokia N97?
