N97 Questions That The Reviews Haven't Answered

If anyone with knowledge about, or experience of handling the N97 could answer the following questions, it would be appreciated.

1. Does the browser have 'text-reflow'? That's to say that when re-sizing the text on-screen, does it auto-adjust the length of each line, so that it still fits within the viewing area? Or put another way, does it self-justify, avoiding the need for continual sideways scrolling in order to read it? (Answered) - No Text-Reflow. :(

2. What material are the hinge-arms made of, plastic or alloy? ... And just how exposed and vulnerable is the connecting ribbon-cable when the phone is in the open position? (Answered) - Hinge-Arm Material-Alloy, Toughened Ribbon-Cable.

3. On the BLACK N97, can anyone tell me what the screen-surround (and also the surround-trim of the main part of the casing with the keyboard) is made of and what colour it is? Is it plastic, as it appears to be and is it chromed, or polished black... It's very hard to tell in the videos as sometimes it appears to be black and at other times it seems rather shiny as though chromed... depending on the lighting. EDIT: Also.. What colour is the keypad and its backlight? (Answered) - Metal-Chromed.

4. Lastly, will the UK version be BBC iPlayer-compatible? (Answered) - Compatible From The Start (supposedly)

Any additional questions, comments, opinions and hopefully facts, are all welcome.

<Thanks to Micky & SueMac>

I will be sure to answer these questions of yours as soon as I get mine. Im under the impression the hing is lightweight alloy, and consists of a complete framework within the device, which adds strength.

I see your post of Q&A page Micky, and one qweston was this>

I have the N82 and is there anyway to compare the actual hardware? The N82 takes some amazing pics... and I would love to go to the n97 but I am afraid of losing quality.

Steve: The N97's camera will be as good, or better than the N82's for non-flash photos. Insert usual Steve moan about lack of Xenon here... 8-)

I wonder how the N97 camera be in bad light?

no one has really touched that topic.....
earlier reviews showed the n97 on the "outskirts" a tunnel and the pics were more than decent
the n86 showed pitch black pics and they were really good
having said that, the n97 is supposed to be using the same 2nd/3rd generation LED's as the n86
but at the same time the aperture of the n86 is much better so its really a hard guess......
im sure steve from allaboutsymbian will go more indepth in the next few days about such
and thiis should clarify this query for you........

THIS possible future replacement of the Xenon flash may interest you Tommie...
