The first bugs in the N97

After trying the N97 for the weekend I have found 3 bugs

1- Sometimes, after the devices locks the screen itself, you cannot unlock it by opening the keyboard, sometimes it will, but the it wont light up. You have to move the keylock switch.

2. Sometimes, when using the Facebook app, the blue arrow will stick, so instead of tryping the qwerty letters you will type the symbols. The blue arrow is not pressed, but it works as if it was.

3. Sometimes, when blocking the homescreen content from the wlan, the accuweather widget will look weird.

I will keep posting

Not too bad!!! Not too bad!!

It's unforgivable for a £500 phone in my opinion. They did this to us with the N95.

To the OP. I sincerely do appreciate your post, my point is that if you (no offense) can find these bugs in a weekend of playing, surely the Nokia test labs should have picked this up and sorted it long ago!

It's Broke?

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?
Damage from normal use: wobbly slider, broken keys, quiet earpiece etc... will be repaired for free, and usually the same day if you take it to a big store!

Please be sure to post any further findings, as hopefully Nokia will see this thread, and possibly add to the bug fix list for a pending firmware update. Those bugs you mentioned have been spotted elsewhere, and are not too bad considering your only running V10. Hopefully by V20, things should start to be a lot smoother.

Do you really think so Micky? Don't you expect a bit better considering the cost of the phone and the time they've had to get it right?

Its only £50 or so more than when the N95 was new. We must appreciate that with any new device, we all, at some level help develop Nokia handsets further by reporting bugs. Nobody, or anyone can get something 100% when launched, especially something as new, and advanced technology used in these kind of devices. Its not like releasing a scientific calculator, or a TV set is it.

Great you're making note of the 'bugs' so far. You should put them into an email and send them through to Nokia's CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo - email is REMOVED . Just make sure the subject line is relevant and even if he doesnt read it, some minder will and forward it to the N97 product team/manager etc.

I've listened to the guy speak in videos online and he seems like a pretty down to earth hands on sort of guy, so he might even check it himself or actually read it. Nothing to lose eh?!

Cheers
Andrew

The manual says that to unlock the phone you have to move the keylock switch, it makes no mention of opening the slider to unlock the phone, so maybe this isn't a bug?

i also thought #1 wasnt a bug per say......its more of a user preference (like the slide to open the media menu
in the n95 that was removed.....i personally liked it!)

#2 bug definitely

#3 i think this is more accuweather.....seen this happen on other devices as well

so far it isnt too shabby "bug wise"......compared to prior nseries

but i still need to know if the RAM is sufficient so far.....thats my main concern
