Why no UK FW update?

Does anyone know why the UK does not have the V11 FW update yet?

Seems a little poopy to me!

Greg.

It's network dependent, not country specific. It's down to your operator to release the firmware to your handset. Unless you debrand it...

not really quite true ijm

for example i have a uk sim free generic one at the min on v10 and there are no updates

but

euro generic sim free does have v11 avalible

so it does seem that its also country/region specific as well as network specific wether the update is avalible to your handset

Sorry, I was referring to when bought from a UK Operator, as he states he's on Three. Not bought SIM Free.

euro sim free 1st

uk sim free 2nd

network providers 3rd (in their own time as they customise firmware)

You do have the option of de-branding your phone and getting rid off all Three branding. This will allow you to update to the latest firmware.

But can cause issues when it comes to any warranty repairs.

That's SO lame!
:-(
To scared to de-brand it and apply the upgraded FW!
Debranding the N95 was easy and brilliant!
Seems they have the N97 Locked up nice and tight!

draven please see my other thread

#bricked your n97 there may be hope#

it has a couple of guides in there telling you how to reflash your firmware to a dead phone so it may not be as fatal as it sounds

i wouldnt say the n97 is locked down as such , there has just been a few problems , if you hold tight for a bit and see how it pans out youll probabaly be fine dont rush into anything yet mate , my mates one got bricked so i know it can happend

soon there will be step by step guides like there was a while back for the n95 and nss etc etc

5th edition is still quite new and the n97 is extremley new so just hold tight for a bit

there will no doubt be another firmware soon as well nokia have been knocking them out quickly latley and the n97 will probs be their main concern at the mo

as long as three get a stable firmware out pretty soon you may not have to debrand unless three have terrible software in general but i havent used them so i cant say
