N97 Hacked! Instructions inside

1) Sign "1 MapDrives.sisx" & "2 RomPatcher.sis"
2) Install "1 MapDrives.sisx"
3) Install "2 RomPatcher.sis"
4) Install "3 Y_Browser.sis"
5) Run MapDrives. It will flash, that's it.
6) Copy files from folder "Copy_To_A" to Drive A with Y_Browser.
7) Restart Phone.
8) Run RomPatcher. Apply the patches; Installserver_fp2.
9) DO NOT FOLLOW STEP 9 IN THE README!!! It just makes my phone crash.
10) Remove MapDrives.
11) Restart Phone.
12) Enable Installserver_fp2 & open4all in RomPatcher and set them to AutoStart.

You're Nokia N97 should now be hacked

actually, i made the other post about if a hack was avaviable yet for the n97 but what exactly can you do with a hacked N97 right now?

are s60 3rd edition apps compatible with 5th edition?

basically what can the n97, as of right now, do now that its hacked?

not done it to my device yet... but can confirm it is working, I have included the sys and resource folder contents from another user..

Im sure the mods will soon follow for hacked phones now people have access

Some latest Nokia's firmwares are designed to prevent user from hacking (opening platform security) their phone. The changes seemed to have successfully interfere with HelloOx operation, thus rendering our device unhackable.

I've just found out this new method from neighborhood forum and some folks have already confirmed this hack works on following devices:

* Nokia N79 v30.011.051.1
* Nokia 6220c v5.15
* Nokia E75 v110.48.125
* Nokia N97 v11.0.021.209.04* (tnx to leetut & takt29)
* Nokia E71 v300.21.012 (tnx to frastgr)
* Nokia N78 v30.011 (tnx to andre128)
* Nokia 5730XM v100.48.122 (tnx to Vampiro1306)
* Nokia N85 v30.19
* Nokia N86 v11.043 (tnx to deryl)

While some others ARE reported unhackable by this method

Confirmed doesn't work with:

* Nokia N96 v30 (Thanks to ugur35)

KNOWN ISSUES:

* Several users have reported that they were unable to install any application after the hack applied. the solution is to disable SWIPOLICYPATH patch in ROMPatcher. (tnx to andre128)
* On Nokia N97 v11.0.021.209.04, Rompatcher patches c2z and SwitchOFFRestart cannot be enabled (tnx to takt29)
* Open4all patch should be turned off before playing N-Gage games. (tnx again to takt29)

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION EXACTLY AS IT WAS WRITTEN

USE ONLY THE ATTACHED FILES, THE ATTACHED FILES ARE ALREADY SPECIFICALLY MODIFIED TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING HACKING STEPS

What you'll need to provide yourself:

* Certificate with 17 capabilities (like OPDA's one)
* Signer to sign the sisx file
* Decent 3rd party filemanager

1. Install your favourite file manager; X-plore & Y-Browser are recommended (skip this step if you already have it installed).
2. Sign & Install Mapdrives
3. Sign & Install ROMPatcher
4. Sign & Install Y_browser or X-plore
5. Run Mapdrives (Mapdrives will map drive A:\ to c:\sys\bin with rw access!)
6. Uninstall Mapdrives
7. Put files under "Copy_to_A" folder to A:\
8. Restart your device
9. Open ROMPatcher, apply open4all.rmp, ChangeSWIpolicyPath.rmp* & Installserver_FP2.rmp
10. HACKED (if you're lucky enough, sorry if you aren't

if you see errors when doing steps above, you will need to copy installserver.exe from drive Z:\sis\bin\installserver.exe to C:\sis\bin\installserver.exe manually.

Wouldn't that just void the warranty?
As updating to the next firmware, N97 sends current phone info to Nokia's server...

No, it won't. Do you really think that "current phone info" includes the full content of the phone's memory ? Only the IMEI and current product code and firmware version go out to the server.

no but you can esaily obtain a cert from OPDA or some other source and self sign apps allowing you to install

Got it working! I only enabled Installserver_fp2 & open4all and not ChangeSWIpolicyPath.rmp on ROMpatcher.
Which was good becuase I was close to formatting the phone (but ive been meaning to get round to that for a while now just to scared to lose all the apps)
