Covered
Agree with most points but a number already exist - like the Find on music - even easier still open the keyboard and just type - instant song title etc. Green / red buttons do call and hang up. Some on previous page exist also - cant remember them now. So far I have no problem with the maps (V2) - much, much better and quicker than N95.
Just two things I don't think have been mentioned and I don't think exist already:

1) Virtual RAM (this is a biggie!)
2) Multiple Home Screens - flicking left and right between, allow futher customization, not just based on widgets 3) App flicking - access running apps by flicking up and down in same manner of changing between multiple Home Screens (eg. Home Screen - flick up - Gravity - flick down - back to Home Screen) 4) Ability to remove any app (Boingo must go) 5) Video codec support for divx 6) The theme effects from the adverts 7) Better flash support in the web browser 8) The 'long press' for numbers 9) On-screen querty keyboard 10) Fix the video and photo browsers not showing media properly 11) One touch speed dial 12) Better background apps notifications/reminders (some apps 'disapeer' into the background, you forget or dont realise they are still running, and are using valuable RAM)....be better if an app previously used was brought back to the forefront, so it can be either closed immediatley, or hidden...rather than just falling to the backgroung by default. (speed dial does this, as does the contact book after making a call) |

Thanks again guys. The Q&A is tomorrow, and I have compiled a list of 60+ suggestions, ideas, and items for improvements in the N97's OS/Firmware.

-increase ram memory. my n97 is very slow after three applications opened!! -more quick applications -resolve radio crashes!! -to open an application: one click or two? nokia have to decide because is very messy! -add next/back button when using on web pages -better speed transfer in using UMS (while you copy music in your n97) -why have I a message each time I turn on my phone " voulez voir les telechargements interrompus"? it's make me nervous! -better remote response. sometimes there is a lag between pression the button and the confirmation on the device. wow.. u have a QA session tmw. in that case, i think here are some non common issues:
1. music player cant read some chinese characters 2. sometimes keys (qwertyu, backspace and center Dpad) dont work 3. default browser crashes 4. add a button to drop down the word suggestion when typing with touch screen, instead of having user to tap at the underlined word which i always miss! 5. menu scroll up down feature shld be similar to browser (i.e. touch and flick) |

1. Software/Virtual qwerty keyboard.
2. Consolidate the tapping through menus. Either everything is single tap or everything is double tap. 3. Render entire menus to allow for smoother scrolling. 4. Give access to remove unnecessary/unwanted apps. (Boingo, etc) 5. Implement virtual/extended memory using mass memory. 6. back button for browser using keyboard or a simpler method than the current one implemented. 7. Provide a better task manager that informs of the amount of ram used by each application. 8. Ability to shut down entire homescreen/widgets for running heavily memory intensive applications OR replace with one giant widget (eg, a large clock, etc.). In general, greater flexibility with widgets/homescreen. Last edited by msnbcnnbcbs; 07-30-2009 at 12:28 AM. |
