Assuming this eagerley awaited firmware does sort out the issues software wise and makes the phone what we were expecting (I live in hope but my faith is weak) I still maintain it does not make it a bad phone. If Nokia had waited to release the N97 until its software was at that point I believe we would be hailing the N97 as the new king and a worthy successor to the N95. While I can see your point Bart and ATM yes it is a bad phone I don't feel it always will be. I think Nokia are a bad company releasing something that is clearly not ready. This has irrecovably (sp?) damaged the products reputation now matter how good it becomes and Nokia are now not to be trusted.

Isn't helping other users part of the reason for this forum?

You don't remember what the N95 was like on initial release? I'm not sure of the time period, but until V20 was released for the N95, it was bashed all over the place for it's problems..

i think there was a bad batch near release as my friends one works so much better then mine

iam returning mine and getting a new one :-)

maybe people with problems just have a faulty handset

i thought the n97 was doomed but ive just got a lemon , as i say my friends is much better then mine the gps works , the battery cover dosent creak , signal is strong , it feels just so much better maybe mine was built last thing fri afternoon :-)

anyone that has a dodgy n97 i suggest returning it there are good ones out there and after all my complaints ive realised i just had one of the bad ones

I can understand they who own a N97 who get the bad batch as Buxz says and be sad and angry,
but not they who not even have a N97 who spam in evry tread about how bad the N97 is without have one.
It be little boring.

Is the same with me I cant understand why not all in the world drive a real car as the Cheva Suburban
but I dont jump on them if they choice a other car like a Volvo ..-:)

I'm glad there be so many devices out there and then the choice be easyer
to get what suit all to the best .

It's look like the most N97 owners like their devices but there be this lens issue and some bugs
Nokia need to fix as soon as possible wich I belive they do.

I'm the same way, really. I have the 5800, E71, E90, and N82 all sitting on the dresser for me that are all fantastic phones... Phones most people would go crazy for, yet I tire of them quick and move on to something new every six months or so. Now I have the i8910, and I really struggle to find faults with it, but already my thoughts are drifting to the Xperia X3. I think a lot of that has to do with Symbian and for the reasons you mention. I'm just ready for something completely new... though... know well and good that the Xperia will probably get old fast as well. Too bad these things aren't really priced to be replaced every six months ;)
