I'd hold off trying Skyfire for the moment - I can't get past the 'Accept' screen on my 5800, doesn't like the touch buttons by the looks of it.

not tried it myself but apparently it does work.......sort of.

Yes, I have many issues with the browser (see my thread here: N97 Browser Issues) but it is pretty fast for small to average sized pages. Certainly faster than any previous Symbian or N-Series device I've used.
