May be coincidental, but although this works..after I did this my device no longer is recognized by PC Suite. Tried different computers, cables..so now I'm wondering if a hard reset will cure that..kinda useless without being able to connect to a PC

1st time ive heard/read of that happending

on a side note though my n97 used to really annoy me sometimes with the usb connection , sometimes it would connect 1st time other times it wouldnt connect untill id done a reboot , other times it would connect but not charge , the usb had a mind of its own

sounds a bit simmilar to whats happending your end mate

hope you get it sorted , could you post the fix up here if you do for other users incase they encounter it when setting up this voip section on their phones , thanks mate

Update: after a hard reset, I'm able to connect to PC again. I'm convinced it had nothing to do with setting up voip. There has been a number of posts of this happening (not being able to connect to PC) after V2 upgrade..but that should be a subject for another thread.

I just want to say that setting up voip calling on my N97 is just great!! Cures one of the major gripes I have had with the N97. Why in heck Nokia hasn't made this officially available?!! I think its complete BS (or politics?). I'd like to know why, but doesn't really matter. This thread should be stickied or made BOLD as to me, this is among the biggest news since this phone was released!

No joy on 5800. There is nothing where it states there should be a new ICON called
-> 'Advanced VoIP' under Settings / Connectivity / Admin Settings / Net Settings

There is "Admin Settings" but not "Net Settings" underneath.

I just tried it on my N97 there (V20) the icons all appear alright and I set up my profile for my VOIP provider as usual, I used SIP on my N82 previously, it seems a bit buggy in the menus some don't exit when you click the back button, have to go to options/exit. Also some buttons don't change from on to off unless you click them 4-5 times. I can see why they haven't put it into V20 if its not working solidly.

Anyway after following the instructions and trying a few of my own ideas its "logging in" when I click on the log in button in my contacts, it doesn't seem to be responding to the clicks.

If anyone gets it working post it up.....

Mainly due to Fring (and all other 3rd party voip apps) is horrendous when it comes to making an internet call..the quality of a built in SIP call is usually crystal clear, many times equal or better than a GSM call.

@Vinnie: there is no icon..just follow the instructions step by step..

@Zippy: What do you mean "the menus some don't exit when you click the back button"? and "Also some buttons don't change from on to off unless you click them 4-5 times"?
