N97 mini, manual e-mail setup

Hello:
I am new to this forum and a new N97 mini user. I am having trouble setting up my pop e-mail account for an existing AT&T account. When I try to set up a new mailbox and enter my e-maill address and press start, or OK, I receive a message that says "unable to connect to server, try again later." There does not seem to be an option to enter the server information, etc. Using the Wizard returns the same result.

I had initially setup using the Nokia messaging service and it worked just fine, but I cancelled the trial account due to the potential for extra messaging charges from my ISP, ergo my need for more traditional retrieval.

Many thanks to anyone who may have racked their brains for an answer to my dilemma. It seems that Nokia tech support could not resolve the issue ... they either had no idea how to manually enter the server data into the N97 mini or they did not understand the King's English and employed the usual pass-the-buck routine by sending me to my ISP who, likewise, had no idea how to assist. But they at least understood and spoke English.

After several hours of trying every combination of button pushes that I could think of I finally found the page that allowed for the entry of the server data. E-mail is now available, but not from the home page. It appears to only be available form the message page via manual activation of the connection each time a search for new mail is desired. Not the best solution but certainly acceptable.
