Nokia 703 - First Nokia WP?

Here's what could one "discern" from the photo:
Display: LCD (or CB?) 480x800 pixels, 3.7 inches
Camera: 5MP 2*** x **** pixels resolution, 720p 30fps
Memory: 8GB, 512 (thanks, reply people) MB RAM
General: *** (27*?), November
If the leak is genuine, I tend to believe it is, from the specs as well as the naming, this will be the first Nokia mid-range WP..
Logic says there must be another high-end to come along with it!
I know releasing a mid-range is better than releasing nothing at all, but the time is really running against Nokia! They can't afford to go without a high-end for the coming quarter!
So let's just hope that the first WP phone that "will blow our socks off" as quoted by some Nokia exec, is still coming in Q4 and Nokia done a good job keeping it undercover..
Because if they manage to optimize WP for their hardware, I can't think of any reason why shouldn't they manage to introduce higher specs and even a better design based on the N9's! Because as I read recently, the WP line-up will be based on the N9's form factor and build..
So why not expect a 4"+ and thinner N9, with considerably higher specs running WP? It's even the least to expect really. This is just asking for something on par with what will be offered!

They need something higher end then this to please everyone :-) this will be a great mid range phone if they can sell it for around the £249-£299 mark . They could then push the higher end for around £425 with upgraded spec :-) kind of like a little brother big brother combo :-)
if this is all they have for the next few months though then they are in trouble :-( the nexus prime is rumoured for release around xmas time , we also have the iphone5 which will sell like hot cakes , there is a rumoured cheaper iphone too , then we still have hot faves like iphone4 and sgs2 selling like hot cakes , there isnt really many devices that make you want to buy into the excellent windows market place and once people are invested into an eco system its har to draw them out of it , for example i have spent quite a bit on apps now for my sgs2 for me to starta fresh on another o/s will take some serious hardware with a great eco system to match , windows has a good market place it just needs that killer device ........... nokia ......... hello nokia ....... massive chance to make your mark fresh with something big , please dont **** it up , make a proper flagship to blow people away like you used to something that would be king of the top trumps if they made mobile phone top trumps , something everyone wants and feels they need , make it , market it , support it :-)
lets hope there is a big brother to this device
i wouldnt be suprised to see the nokia sea ray with n9 spec as its bigger brother , 1gb ram , 16gb/64gb variants , carl zeis 8mp camera , etc etc

Yes a very valid point of course.. Specially concerning the average user who sticks to the new handset for an average of two years..
However, on the other hand, if one analyzes how many new smartphones are being increasingly sold each quarter, and how many are still without a smartphone experience, and many others still on old smartphones who have yet to upgrade to a new platform (iOs, Android, or WP), WP and Nokia still have all the chance in front of them!
But as said, the time is going against them, they need to get things rolling this year! At least at the high-end! They need consumers to start getting WP devices!

Actually this 703 is the Sea Ray we saw! It has 3.7" display since they had to fit those button at the bottom..
As to the specs, we didn't know any specs about the Sea Ray! Just that it has the same body as the N9.
And to be honest, the same phone but with higher specs is not enough for a high-end! They need a bigger screen! This is a key factor!
3.7" is too little by today's standards.. And rightly so. After using those 4.3" displays, I'll even think twice about getting a 4"!
And the way things are going, we'll be getting 4.5" and 4.7" next.. In a more compact form to compensate for the bigger space these screens need.
Nokia said the N9's design and form factor will be the base for the future devices..
Similarly to SE's Xperia line-up!
The SE Neo is at 3.7" display, considerably thicker than the Arc as well.
I expect same thing to happen with Nokia:
Next Nokia WP High-end : Nokia 703 :: SE Arc : SE Neo.
Similar build and design to the 703, but considerably bigger screen and minor design tweaks.. To make it a bit thinner maybe..

For a mid-range handset it looks pretty good. It's nothing to get the techno-geek excited but it appears to be more of a handset to help Nokia/WP win in the numbers game. Getting people to start using WP7 is what they really need to do at this time. The only thing to not like is the hard edges at the top and bottom, this doesn't appear to be too pocket friendly.
