Default Nokia Users Wiki coming soon....

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some future enhancements coming to Nokia Users, specifically a Nokia based wiki. Ive wrote up a few Q&A to give a deeper insight to where things are headed, along with some plans we have for the site...

Why do we need a wiki?
A wiki will allow our community to develop unique information-rich pages for Nokia phones, accessories, and applications. These pages can be updated as new information emerges, and will allow creation of pages as new products are released.

What about Wikipedia? Doesn't that have information for Nokia phones?
Yes, but we intend to provide a much deeper look. Instead of just the basic specs of a phone; you will now be able to see firmware revisions, common issues, tips and tricks, along with a list of other user-generated resources. Also by creating individual pages for common applications, we can provide a history of previous releases, future features, and links to reviews. It will also allow developers to create their own pages, giving users a in depth look before purchasing the application. When the application is mentioned within a news article or forum post, it will automatically be converted to the applicable wiki link.

Why are you telling us if its not even complete?
We want your help! PM me for more details....

We have also rolled out a mobile version of Nokia Users homepage, which is automatically loaded when you view the site with any mobile browser. We still have some changes to make, however a workable foundation is in place. A complete mobile version of the forum will also be coming soon.

Nokia Users is just over a month old and we have already seen a great deal of success. Our forum now has over 100 registered users and 500+ posts, and our very own Pseudofinn is currently at Nokia Headquarters enjoying the release of the N82. Moving into month two, we would love to hear what you would like to see here at Nokia Users; and thank you for a successful first month!

Question: Has the E90users site already been streamed into nokiausers.net? (I couldn't find it)

Coment: The option to view nokiausers in its full version on your cell would be much appreciated. If the option is their and I'm just missing it tell me. (Come on Brandon! Being forced to view the mobile version should be a pet peve of all cell fanatics)

Mariokarter: E90Users.com is NOT affiliated with N95Users or NokiaUsers, we did build a E90 fan site but decided to pursue a more comprehensive site (the one your at now!) instead.

As for the mobile version complaint, that will be fixed shortly; thank you for your feedback. Let me know if your are interested in helping us with the Wiki!

Sure I would be willing to help out with the wiki. But it prolly makes sense for me to buy a s60 phone (to jump on the N82 right away or wait and hope for a US version, can't decide) before I start writing stuff. What format or structure were you thinking for having the wiki? Is it going to cover all things S60 (OS, official nokia apps, third party apps) and all things about particular Nokias which run S60? I guess having a profile and specs for every phone would be good, and then a chart comparing all the features, with headings like: Camera(# of megapixles), WIFI(Yes or No), RAM ( # of megabites) etc. And then having a list of all those shortcuts, like pressing #*2423324*# (or whatever it is) to display yor IMEI.

Thumbs up

That is quite a good way of structuring the wiki actually.

Like having headings for the main features that are all different from each other and then branching it out to more specific points about the heading.

Well it starts with an "i" and ends with a "Phone"... I've been waiting for the N82 (not a slider person) since original N95 came out, and I'm not sure if I should get it right away or wait for the N82-3.

Lol, nokia seem to have been doing this recently with their new phones...or is it their n series devices?.
So there will be an updated version of the N82 as there was for the N95, imagine the N82-2 being an 8GB version with a bigger screen and other boosted up features like the N95 8GB. That would be surprising!, doubt it though
