How to install unsigned sis ( NO PERM HACK )

i tried the perm hack route but am unable to download the big python app it comes up with the logo but when i try to run it says error with windows installer or sumfin??

found it elswhere but it had a msdos batch file and it ran it in a msdos window, so when i try to run pyserial it says no python file found or registered

as to your questions, yeah, sorry abt the typo it should be cert.cer

i'll post direct links tmrw with all the files you need for the perm hack, including the new method where you can just turn it off or on on on your phone with just 'one touch' and without the pc. I'd do it now, but i'm bogged down at work. will get back to you. DOn't lose hope/faith!

btw are using vista by any chance, cos its been bumming us. method only seems to work properly with an XP pc ( perm hack)

am using xp to the mod

do i need to instal some sort of special s/w to view the files and folders on the phone? as when i view files on the mass storage device via nokia pc suite i dont see all the folders, but when i view them via the usb data option then i can see all the hidden folders like private n stuff,

so im finkin maybe i can get this method to work if i can view all the folders on the c: of the phone like resource etc and rename the cer.cer as cert.cer

also you knw when you use the sis signer thing i assume you tell the application where the file to be signed is then go down to key and tell it where that it is and then go down to cert and tell it where that is it too?

ok mudasser, here is the simplest quide i could come up with for the hack to see ur c:drive on yer phone. only need to run it, than you can access the drive with any file explorer like X-plore or Y-browser. As regards to ur question about the singer app. U just have to select the sis, and then select 'selfsign' from the options. No need to select the cert and key file .

You will need certain softwares and a PC:

1. Download and Install ActivePython on your PC
2. Download and Install PySerial
3. The magic python script and TRK application
a.) for Nokia (n95 ,n82 ,etc.) + AppTRK
4. Application to turn security on and off (from phone)
a.) for Nokia (n95 ,n82 ,n73 ,n80 etc.) (Thanks to FCA00000)

The Real Part:

1. Install the AppTRK application on your phone's memory and start it, then in options>settings, select connection as USB.
2. Connect your phone to your PC via USB in PC Suite mode and then AppTRK will report connected on your phone
3. Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Ports
OR in Windows Vista: Control Panel>System>Device Manager>Ports.
Note the COM Port your phone is using
4. Open the python script in notepad (the one downloaded in step 3 with .py extension)
5. Search "serial.ser" without quotes and then replace the numerical value in bracket with the value of your COM Port minus 1 i.e. if your port was 22 then replace it with 21.
6. Save the file
7. Run the script by simply double clicking it
8. Now if you see something like !!!!!!candidate!!!!!!! in the output window, then.....
congratulations now your phone is really yours!!
9. Now you can exit the AppTRK application.
10. Verify the hack with X-Plore or Y-browser, see if you can explore c:/sys/
11. Now if you will reboot the phone you will have to reactivate the hack with above procedure OR to do it without PC do the following(Note: for the first time PC hack is needed)
12.)
I. install CapsOn.sisx
II. install CapsOff.sisx
III. copy CProfDriver_SISX.ldd from RAR downloaded in step 4a into C:\sys\bin

CapsOff = Security OFF and do whatever you want to do with your phone :)
CapsOn = Restrictions ON :(

This the most up to date method currently.

tried it yesterday, got that message up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!candidate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

explored the phone saw the hidden files etc it wouldnt let me create folders etc in resource or private,

also loaded the caps on/off thing it reboots when you run them but it wont let me create the folders

was trying everything to get that route 66 signed?

is there any other way? can i not copy it off my working n95? on to my new n95 8gb?

i am not to bothered bout the other fings just need the sat nav to work as its brilliant on my n95

mudd, what file explorer are u using??? I'll PM u a file browser that should allow u to edit system and private folders. If u got the candidate msg, the hack is active, until you restart the phone that is. Since you've already got the caps apps installed, i'd advise running the pc hack again, after you get the candidate!!!! msg, don't restart your phone, and transfer the CProfDriver_SISX.ldd file.

the caps apps should work fine after that , then we can move on to getting those unsigned sis files installed

rapid, di u manage to get the hack working and run the caps apps successfully ? are u using the selfsign option in mobile signer??? if so, what prog are u trying to install???
