Exclamation Forgot security Code ??? Use NSS to recover

    Tools Required :
    Nemesis Service suite (NSS)
    Nokia PC Suite
    Data cable

    Steps :

    1. Connect your phone in PC Suite mode
    2. Open Nemesis Service suite (NSS)
    3. Then click on scan for new devices button (top right hand side)
    4. Click on phone info button.
    5. Now Click on Scan.
    6. Select Permanent Memory.
    7. Click on Read.

    8. It will read the permanent memory file and save it on the disk at following path.
    C:\Program Files\NSS\Backup\pm\<IMEI>.pm

    9. Open the .pm file using Notepad.
    10. Now scroll until field [308], and on the 5th Record (5=) your security code is saved at there.
    11. Like 5=31313131310000000000
    12. Remove all 3 digit and it will be 31313131310000000000
    13. 11111 is your security code.

Security Code? What's that then? PIN2? Phone Lock? Sim Lock?

Surely if you use your phone daily, which most people do, then you aren't going to forget any of your pin/security codes. I don't think this can be used for any good reasons.

Im guessing the "Security code". The one which default is "12345" which is used to lock the phone. Ideal if you have purchased a phone from someone who has forgotten the code if they changed the default code I guess.

My lock code is only activated by switching SIMs... so on occasion i do forget my lock code, and this method would come in handy

by the way i think this only works if the phone is on and fully booted with no security key lock !
Unless someone has managed to get around this ?

I noticed a while back yourself and others recommended Advanced D Lock. On those recommendations I tried and eventually purchased the App.
Thanks a million for that, it works perfect and am really pleased with it.

My question is. Did this method get you out of trouble, assuming your using Adv D Lock that is, or is just the Nokia installed app that it works for?

hey guys, new here. Came across the website by accident and finding some very useful information here.

As regards to finding the security lock. I've read the permanent file. It says it saves it to the folder, yet when i go to the folder its not there. Any reason for this or am i doing it wrong????

I had an N85. I changed my phone lock code which was 65456 to 080507. Or at least I thought I did. When my phone's battery died, and I tried to restart it, I was asked for the phone lock code. I entered 080507 but it just said "Code Error." I tried LOTS of other codes that I think I might have entered instead and the default factory security code 12345. None of them worked. Of course. I "accidentally" typed 08050* and it was "Code Accepted." Yay. I realized they just accept numbers, not * or #, and that it has to be 5 digits. I didn't realize that it was only the first 5 numbers that I entered, and verified, that became my new security code. Before I cracked the code, I have been searching for solutions to this all over the Internet. I even called a Nokia Care Centre representative and considered sending the phone to them. But, problem solved, and I hope your problem could have a simple solution as mine.

(The solutions offered in many sites I found uncomfortable with, like sending your IMEI numbers and other serial numbers or personal details, so I checked with the official Nokia people even if I expected they will just tell me things I already know and tried. The other solutions were too complicated for me, the ones where you need to download certain applications. They may have worked for some people but I would recommend paying for trusted repairs rather than do it myself, or have some random person do it. The risk isn't always worth it.)

Dosh you're having the exact same problem I am I expect. We simply can't use this method because from the lock code screen, the application won't detect the mobile connected. So it simply cannot communicate.

However, I am forced to using Windows 7 and compatibility mode, its possible things might be different on XP, I've yet to try.

Actually with all the phones I tried with, the phones werent locked. So no lock screen in my case. I tried, an N85, N5300 XM, N3270 and an N6300 all dont bear any results. Either the scan ends with an error or nothing shows up in the pm folder. I'll try it on XP as soon as I can then I'll let you no if there's any change. Btw I know all the security codes on the phones except for the one on my old N6300. Was trying to find it out and when I found out I couldnt, I tried to use other phones but still fruitless results..

Logan, XP works fine with NSS. Just tried it with the N5300 and N6300. So confirming your theory, yes NSS does NOT work at all with Vista or Win7 in your case. Thanks for the help Hope you get your hands on an XP pc soon.

I just updated my e71 to latest firmware (v400) and now the phone is locked and as you have most probably guessed, I don't remember the lock code. After many reboots I was finally able to select 'PC Suite Mode' before the screen gets locked and was able to generate the .pm file using NSS.

The 5th Record in [308] is
    Code:
    5=31323334350000000000
which apparently means that my lock code is 12345 but the phone is not accepting the code. Any ideas?

    Hello Everyone!
As I forgot my phone's lock code and in search of some hack I got this method via a friend. I keep trying it but I fail. It does not detect my phone and shows an error in reading.
    I am using Windows7 ultimate.
Plus, I got my sim lock applied, like if I restart my phone priorily removing the battery as well, I need to insert a sim code as well. I put that and I have everything fine. But now I want to use the lock for my phone for safety purposes.. and months ago I had changed the code and didn't apply it.
    Firmware : V31.0.015

    I hope I'll be helped.
    Thankful.

    Steps :

    1. Connect your phone in PC Suite mode
    2. Open Nemesis Service suite (NSS)
    3. Then click on scan for new devices button (top right hand side)
    4. Click on phone info button.
    5. Now Click on Scan.
    6. Select Permanent Memory.
    7. Click on Read.

    8. It will read the permanent memory file and save it on the disk at following path.
    C:\Program Files\NSS\Backup\pm\<IMEI>.pm

    9. Open the .pm file using Notepad.
    10. Now scroll until field [308], and on the 5th Record (5=) your security code is saved at there.
    11. Like 5=31313131310000000000
    12. Remove all 3 digit and it will be 31313131310000000000
    13. 11111 is your security code.

There are so many people on the net that offer advice when they don't have a clue. Then there are those that expect you to be absolutely geeked assume you know what to do step by step.

Occasionally you get something that is 100% correct, accurate and helpful. Thanks for that.
Worked like a charm. One thing for others though: the [imei].pm file doesn't release (show up in the folder) until you close NSS.

    Hello everybody,
I did all that, but on field [308] I dont have 5th record. On [308] I have 0,1,3,4,6,7,9.
The problems with lock code are the same - I have probably changed that code, but no memory how... 12345 doesnt work.
