I have installed the new version...twice... to try and sort 2 issues:
- I get a blank screen (bar options and exit buttons) on start up. The way round seem to be to hit Options and leave it like this for a couple of seconds and then the iplayer screen appears.
- the download option seem to have disappeared although I'm pretty sure it was there initially
I'm pretty annoyed as I used the iplayer regularly..

If I were you, I'd rebuild my phone. I'd backup everthing (incl setings), make sure you have all your downloaded software safely tucked away for later re-install. Then do a hard reset, and format Mass Memory.

Restore settings, copy back all photos, music etc. Then re-install apps.

As with a PC, it's good to clear out all the carp every now and again (all the partially installed / uninstalled apps, temp stuff, etc), and only add back the things you know you want.

I did all this when downloading and installing V20. It took a while, but it was worth it. My installation of iPlayer 2.5.0 works fine, and does have the Download option.

For gavinguiness.

I tried what you suggested using Joikuspot, a couple of months ago (it sounds like the ideal solution). It didn't work. I started Joikuspot, then tried to run iPlayer. It never got to the iPlayer home screen, it just gave an error message about "...a script error...", and froze.

At that time I was able to get Joikuspot to work. Since then, I've been unable to get Joikuspot to make an internet connection. The best I can do is establish a working "local network", but the internet connection fails.

I could do with a decent Joikuspot support forum like the Nokia ones, to sort this out.

Well, I'm using a 5800 with the same firmware as yourself and BBC iPlayer is working perfectly, I see no reason why yours shouldn't.

The .zip file below is the .wgz I used, you may like to try installing it?

Thanks Spook, I'll try that and keep you posted.

I changed firmware this morning from 31.0.008 to 31.0.101. I wasn't going to bother but thought maybe it would help..it didn't.

The hard reset (especially) and the firmware install did my phone some good though, it feels more responsive. And I recovered about 15Mb of phone memory..

And I unwittingly found a useful flaw in OVI maps licenses..

It kinda worked: blank screen issue has "kind of disappeared" is now more akeen a slow start. i.e. screen stays blank for about 6/7s before displaying the contents.
Yesterday I had some programs I could download. Right now none...
