Service to allow use of built-in IM

I came across this posting which talks about a service called Mobjab which allows the use of the buit-in IM app.

Using the built-in IM client installed on Unlocked and Unbranded Devices Talk About Nseries

why do you have to input your msn password online? shouldn't you be able to do that in the application.

you can call me paranoid, but i'm not going to type my password into some third party website.

did you test it to confirm it actually works?

Just read about this over on Symbian World, posted up by Norman. Head over and take a look.

I didn't test it myself but the person in the article did and seemed quite happy with it. I agree that it seems silly to have to put your login details.

The reason I didn't try this is because of the lack of Wifi with this application, which is ridiculous. In New Zealand we have to grab our ankles when it comes to the cost of WAP so didn't even bother but thought others might find it useful

Yes, but the new thing isn’t the IM application itself, but the fact that you can go online with your MSN account which is new for the msot of us.

I really don`t get it, haven`t we`d been able to connect to our msn account for ages through 3rd party apps ?

I guess this is more implicated in the s60 Os but i cant imagine it doing MUCH more than a 3rd party app

I'm trying to give this a try but am coming unstuck as I cannot access the IM applicaiton on my N95!

Can anyone confirm that they can access the IM application when using v21.0.016 firmware? It may be a glitch with my phone but I'd like to be sure before I hard reset!

Oh and as an aside GSI, they advertise this as being able to use wifi ... perhaps they have tweaked it since you looked last?

Hey I have a question. My N95-1 doesn't have the IM client in the Apps menu, Tools menu, or Messaging menu. Can I download it?
