IM+ or Fring

so, I attempted to try both of these apps yesterday. Sadly I'm still waiting for T-Mobile to upgrade my web'n'walk plan and remove the port blocks.

In the meantime I thought I'd try them out on wifi.

Fring worked and was ok (I don't make internet calls or skype etc) so might be more than I actually need

IM+ simply wouldn't connect via wifi so I can't even try it.

so, I thought I was ask peoples opinions of each app on here.

what is the most common on with the folks on here?

thanks

i've been using IM+ and i like it because of its search function when you have a lot of contacts and running a lot of accounts. i'm not sure if i tried connecting with wifi but it should work..will try it later. when you get your web n walk try out IM+ for 7 days i think for the trial.

I use fring all the time. I've not tried the IM+ though.

I personally like the way fring automatically uses any of the available WIFI points wherever I am, then uses GPRS when I'm out of range. I just leave it on all the time and let it manage the connection itself and it always chooses WIFI if available.

It's Broke?

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?
Damage from normal use: wobbly slider, broken keys, quiet earpiece etc... will be repaired for free, and usually the same day if you take it to a big store!

yeah, i like fring that way and it's free :)...but i like IM+ UI as you can list them small. i have unlimeted internet so i use that instead for chatting so it doesn't eat up the battery with wifi. by the way, how do you turn off alerts on fring? i put the fringtones to off and it still gives a loud sound though on my profiles i only put it to two bars?

The sound? hmmm I don't know. Well, as you may have seen from previous posts, I quite like my N95 to emmit odd sounds, so I actuall changed the sound to this, which just makes me smile, but I guess if all else fails, you could set it to use a blank MP3 file as the alert tone. Here, try this.
