Applications

Hi,

I am new to the N95 and the nokia smart phones in general, so I was wondering what are the best applications (and what they do) that can be run on the phone.

Thanks
Rich.

you can try the free apps in this forum first. You can go to handango.com for apps or other sites that offer trials before buying them. As long as it says series 60 3rd edition it's compatible for your phone.

Wow, theres really too much software to list it all.

You seem interested in the productivity side of things, so here are some good programs of that ilk that I'm aware of:

Quickoffice is the best software of its kind, there is another which is close, but distinctly inferior according to reviews.

SymSmb 2 is good for accessing files on your home PC remotely.

Profimail is the best email program.

I know nothing about Push Email, but allaboutsymbian.com has a good roundup of your options there.

The Oxford dictionary range is pretty good.

PDF+ is better than the Adobe PDF reader that is bundled with the phone, well worth it if you expect to load textbooks and so forth on the phone for reference.

Salling Clicker is good if you use Powerpoint often, lets you control it remotely from the phone, certainly has an impact (I use Powerpoint often for Med School). There are other options, but I believe this is the best - it also has Windows Media and iTunes control functions.

ScanR is good, turns the camera into a scanner (of sorts anyway) - a free!

I can vouch for all of those except Profimail and SymSmb 2, which I have not used.

For non-productivity stuff:

VBagX is a very good Gameboy Advance Emulator.

Quake is just newly ported - and free! Get it with installation instructions here: Download

C2Doom is also good - runs Doom WADs so there are a number of custom WADs available for free (Star Wars is good). Cheap at $5.

Dear guys,

I just boght my brand new N95. After I donwloaded the Firmware upgrade I could not open the games applications (i.e EA Tigerwood, EA Street Soccer and few others). I did back up my phone memory prior to the upgrade and I have successfully restored the memory after the upgrade. I cannot even remove those applications using the Application Manager. Could anyone help me?.. Either to make them operational or tell me how to remove them. If I have to re-download them, I would prefer to remove them from my phone. TQ

YUP! Judging from all the hassle that it's caused for people who've done it, that would certainly seem to be the case!
