Calendar application with delayable reminders
I almost like the calendar built into the N95, apart from the fact that it doesn't allow you to enter "appointments".
I have tried Handy Calendar, which is even better, and AquaCalendar, which I didn't like - there's too muc going on all the time. Although Handy Calendar is nice, it's still missing the ability to delay the alarms (reminders) when they occur. To explain this, I'll give an example. I enter a birthday and set up a reminder to alert me 2 weeks before the day. I get reminded, but don't want to buy a card/gift at the time I get the reminder, so I delay it for a day or two. I then get another reminder later which I can act on. Also, I would like the ability to "delay until X days before the event". Oh, and whilst talking about birthdays - it would be great for the calendar to "link" to contact birthdays rather than importing them, meaning that updating the birthday on the contact would move the calendar entry to the new date rather than you having to delete the old entry. Does anyone know of a calendar app that has this type of alarm/reminder? Maybe even another program that will just carry out the reminders? Thanks, SiM99 |

Handy Calender's latest version (Still under Beta testing) updates the birthdays from the contacts every time it is opened. I am not sure how it handles the birthday reminders coz I have nevert set the reminders for weeks before event, I normally set them to the day of the birthday, or a day before.
You could also try Papyrus (now known as SBSH Calender), I prefer it over the others. It also imports the birthdays from the contact list, but I have to check how it deals with the change in date of the same contact. |

I use an app called BBirthday. Very handy indeed - I can set an alarm up to 31 days before.
This app links with your "contacts" list and "calender" - when the alarm goes off you get all the usual options to stop, silence and snooze etc. you can then edit the "reminder" for what ever period of delay you want... Cheers.

But that would take more button presses than selecting a "delay period" and pressing the okay button. I know that sounds very lazy... but if the reminder occurs at an inconvenient time (e.g. in the cinema) then with the current alarm setup I would just have to stop the alarm, then probably forget to do anything about it later. Then there's the next alarm to be set up by the calendar. In order to make the alarm for a birthday occur before the day itself you have to edit it manually... you'd need to check basically every day to set the alarms up, making the whole process a bit pointless to be honest. Now... I wonder if I can find something to set up individual alarms with "reminders"... or if I can just use the birthday app (assuming you can add custom dates aswell as linked birthdays) |

You should be able to do the above in your Calendar>New Entry>To-do or with the Clock>Alarm>Options>New Alarm.

I can't believe so many people can't remember their friends' birthdays!! I'd be lynched!
