WinMob had one useful feature that I really miss. T9-type searching for contacts/numbers straight from the home-screen. It made sending a text message much easier.

It's the only thing I miss ;)

What firmware version are you on?

Unless you are on an early version then "search internet and my content" does that.

As it says under my name, v.30.

However, the functionality you speak of doesn't work particularly well. For two reasons:

1. It doesn't work directly from standby like WinMob. There're more key presses to get to 'Search internet...' and then down to 'contacts' and then into contacts. With WinMob you just start typing and it searches the address book T9 stylee, direct from standby.

2. My wife's nickname begins with an 'S' and then 'n'. It doesn't seem to pick that up at all. I type '7' and an 's' appears, then I type '6' and instead of an 'n' I get 'o'. Even though I could see the entry I wanted, it disappears!

It doesn't bother me that much in all honesty. The benefits of S60 far outweigh any disadvantages. It's the only bit of the WinMob OS that I miss.

You can actually get this kind of T9 searching direct from standby in S60 by installing SkyQuiKey. But it's a paid-for app and the last version I used was a bit broken.

I use T9 nav for this. It works great, for finding almost everything on my phone really fast. (Wow didn't that sound like an advertisment ? :) )

You can use skyequikey

Skyestream - Products

I use it alot. I wish it was already a feature on the N95, but this is the next best thing.
