Linkage? Nothing popping up in the iPlayer application about an update for me on my 5800.
i dont know any links it was direct from the application. Possibly just the same link as the first one. I was on the edited 1.5.0 i think

This is version 1.6. I'm going to try it in a minute.
Works fine on 5800. However still no download option yet.
Interestingly though, when opened with Power Archiver, the folder contained within is titled:
"iPlayer1_6_5800RC3"
Release Candidate 3 for the 5800. Wonder why download hasn't been enabled? Would love to see a changelog.
it said something like less programmes displayed as not available. Tv streaming and download radio streaming and something else, not major though
no tv programs displayed for me either.
oh yeah, parental lock is new too
yeah, apart from that some iplayer content would be nice.
im having a go at editing it like i have read people do. so i will report back in a few
cant do it
I it gwets fixed soon.
I've gone back to v1.0 and hacked to use 3g. It loads one minute in real player, other times it says 'unable to connect'.
Just tried it again and loaded QI fine. It got stuck a few times and went quite a bit out of sync on 3g but still worked.
I find that if I get 'unable to connect' after trying a few times it often will work (on 3g/3.5g). The only nuisance with this version really I find is having to click on the parental guidance thing for each programme but other than that it seems fine even on 3g.
I hope BBC/someone manages to sort out the 1.6 version to work on the N95...
if you are having the problem with 1.6 then you need to overwrite it with an older version. The BBC don't want it to work on n95. They only want to support the latest phone (and the one they have a promotion deal with).
an older version can be downloaded here. Extract it to your phone, install and overwrite the newer file.

how on earth do you unsupport a TV??!?
Simple, you switch off the analogue signal then choose to broadcasts your DTV signal in a non compatible format. I've already had to buy a new DTV set-top-box because my old one was no longer supported. So, I guess if there was a real desire to "unsupport a TV" it could be easily done, just the same way as it appears that they are deliberately choosing not to support some S60 devices.
Without sounding offensive, what a load of bollocks!
Would love to see some evidence to support your 'rumour' Nigel.
I for one, just cannot accept the BBC would be so stupid.
Digital switch over is one thing, I accept that. But when you start talking about non-compatible DTV signals to leave owners of certain brands of TV without BBC, never going to happen. Not in a million years.
For one, a Sony owning license payer still pays the same as a Panasonic owning license payer. Imagine the stink it would cause if they decided to pull the signal from Panasonic owners!?
Fail to believe it until some hard evidence is produced.
i am annoyed that they are not supporting the great n95. its been the flagship phone for so long and now theyve got newer ones they just ignore it. theres no reason why they wont support it, just because they dont want to.

Ok, I can see that some people didnt notice the sarcasm of my 'rumor'
Here is a link to an article featured on watchdog recently. A quick Google also came up with a list of devices no longer supported in the Borders region.

Hi. Can someone help me with installing??
I've tried to install it from my PC: Asks what program to use
Install from Nokia PC Site (OVI): Not seen in the window
Install by clicking on file after transferring to memory card: From Nokia file manager it opens up and shows a load of PNG files
I asked elsewhere, people said update my firmware. But I checked on the Nokia site and it says I have the latest available for my device (20.0.015 for Nokia on the "3" network)
Am I doing something wrong or is debranding needed??
If you saved it to your PC you should connect your phone to the PC in PC Suite mode and use the Installer application from whatever Suite you have.
If you have saved it to your phone you need to install from your Apps Manager - not File Manager.

Still can't see it in Ovi Suite application installer. And there is no option to install from the app manager - mybe due to my operator removing it?
What's the full name incl. extension of the file you downloaded ?

It was the rar file from this thread. It's called iplayer.wgz
Did you unzip it ?

Yeah, unzipped it to desktop, dragged it over to my phones memory card
So what did you get after unzipping it ?

a file called iplayer.wgz, which I am unable to do anything with (the same problem as I originally posted)
That sorry excuse for a piece of software called OVI Suite strikes again. Get rid of it completely and install the standard PC Suite - that Installer will then see the widget and you can install it.

Thanks, I got rid of that originally as I was haveing probs with it not doing what I wanted to. Hopefully should be fixed now.
I'm sometimes glad I'm on a Mac and there is no PC Suite!
When I want to install something I've downloaded I do one of the following which ought to be possible on a PC too:
A. Send the file by Bluetooth (using Bluetooth File Exchange on a Mac).
It arrives like a text message and when you click on it you are asked if you want to install the application etc.
B. Browse the phone's internal/external drives via Bluetooth or:
C. Browse the phone's internal/external drives via USB. When you connect the phone to your computer you must get an option on the phone for PC Suite or Data Transfer. If you select Data Transfer, you should see the Memory Card as an external drive on your computer.
I have created a folder on both internal and external phone drives called 'Installation' just so that I know where I put the installers and I can delete them once the application has been installed - either way, locating that folder and clicking on the application installer inside should work. I just did this with this file as I was duped into updating to v1.6 and was grateful to find 1.5 on here.
Having reverted to v1.5, I started it up and noticed that there was an option to download programmes - as the programme I was trying to watch was stuttering like mad I thought I'd give it a go. However, after downloading a 50Mb programme it wouldn't open!
Any thoughts?
**** thing still wont install, It says on Nokia PC suite that you should finish the installation on the phone, but nothing happens on the N95
Like I said, try doing it without PC Suite - see the methods I mention above.
Not sure how to do that, Vista strikes again. Upon calling up the help section on how to find bluetooth devices, it tells me to go into "Printers" on the control panel (why?) and select an option that isn't even there.
My next laptop will be a Mac I think
I personally never mess around with bluetooth when installing stuff, be it apps or upgrading firmware.
You said you already have transferred the file to the phone's memory card. If you open your Apps Manager and scroll throught the list don't you see it there as Uninstalled ?

Nope, even tried transferring it by taking the card out, putting it in an adaptor and tranferring it via the SD slot and it still doesn't show up on the apps installer
I'm sorry, I think I'm out of options. I've tried to replicate your problem but cannot, I always see the widget and have no problems installing it both from PC and from the phone. I even have both OVI and standard PC Suite running on the same laptop, which in general is a recipe for disaster, but even that does not cause me problems so far.
Do the other apps from PC Suite operate normally when your phone is connected ? Is it just the installer hanging ?

Using Bluetooth was only one suggestion which works fine for me. I also suggested using Data Transfer via USB.
When you do this, put it somewhere you can find easily and rather than depend on App. mgr. to detect it, navigate to it using File mgr (sorry to contradict another poster). It won't show up in App. mgr. (it doesn't on my phone) - then just click it. I have just gone through this procedure again on my N95 and it works. As far as I can tell from your posts, you haven't tried doing it this way yet. Forget using PC Suite - at least for this procedure.
Like I said, I have created specific folders to put Installer files in so that I can find them easily and delete them if necessary. Don't forget that there are two tabs in File mgr. One for the internal memory and one for the card.

Yes, tried installing another app (Frozen Bubbles) and that works fine. Tried the option of opening via File Mgr and it goes into Zip manager, displays the folder as \IPLAYER.WGZ, comes up with a list of files such as all.css, embed.html, icon.png etc etc
