Oh dear lord, I cannot believe I bought this.

I don't know if you guys heard of it, but it's called "Best Answering Machine". I paid $12 for it but I quickly found that the "Best" is just an antynom to the real word...

Let me explain how the program works. The app runs in the background and when a call comes and you don't pick up in whatever amount of time you set (I put 15 seconds) it will greet (you use a recorded greeting) the caller and record his message.

The program works nicely and looks nice. BUT IT HAS MAJOR FLAWS, YES FLAWS WITH AN S.

Major Flaw #1:

You guys know the "tone" which lets the user know when to leave a message. Well the brilliant minds who made the app thought it would be a genius plan to play the exact same tone every 15 seconds when it is recording. When I tried it out the first time I thought the machine cut me off, but nope it kept right on recording.

Major Flaw #2:

This program is basically two devices in one. It can be used as an answering machine and as a spy device. SPY DEVICE? What the heck, that was your initial thought correct? Well, while it is recording the message, did you know that it very strongly picks up all the background noise so the person leaving the message can hear all the nasty things I'm saying about them. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!

Do yourself a favour and don't buy this joke of an app, I can't stress that enough. It must have been released for April Fools.

Now I'm off the go write a hate letter to the creator... ciao!

BTW: Does anyone actually know of a good answering machine. And please don't suggest any with Amazing, Perfect, or Great in their name.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is a reason for the beeping throughout the recording.

Falls under the bracket of animplied licence

You can't record another conversation without making them aware first, either verbally or by the beeping sound during the recording. I don't know the laws for your country, but it's the case in the UK. Only if you intend to use the conversation against them in a court of law, so it coveres all aspects.

I completely understand that. But what about the "Leave a message after the beep?" Haha.

Besides, what about them hearing ME?

Well by law, it should either state "please leave a message after the beep" similar to when you call a company and get " Calls may be recorded for monitoring and training purposes"

If it doesn't state that, then it may beep all the way through, or both in some cases.

Well that's how it records, it records the sound they make from your phone speaker and into the MIC to record it. I fail to see any further method a phone could record incoming sound without being a dedicated recording device ?

P.S That's what you get for $12. ;)

Do you have a better one? Money wasn't the issue. I couldn't find anything else.

I'm on a family plan.

$100 a month.

One line for me, my dad, and my mom.
Unlimited in-between calling + video calling.
200 or was it 300 minutes each to talk to anyone else.
NO DATA WHATSOEVER, if I use it without a plan I think, I think it's about $0.15 a kB.
Unlimited SMS.

To add voice mail it would cost me $12 extra a month. The program costs that much so I figured it would be savings.

And yes, Canada gets ripped off big time on regular home internet, long distance, and wireless services. Why? We are in a Monopoly by Bell(Internet, everything runs through their pipes) and Rogers(Wireless, everything runs through their towers).
