You're getting it for two reasons.

    1. The file you're trying to install hasn't been signed.
    2. The phone needs a hard reset, I had the same error on my 5800. I needed to hard reset to install signed applications.

Please search the forum if you're insure what "Signing" means.

I've tried a hard reset, it doesn't change anything. I've also tried getting it unsigned but Ive never found a site in proper english that has instructions that make sense.

What steps did you take to do a hard reset Russ? What code did you use?

The signing process can be a little confusing.

You basically need to obtain a Developers Certificate ( DevCert) and a KeyFile and use a third party program like SignSIS to "register" the program to your phone (Via the Dev Cert)

Unfortunately it can be tricky getting hold of a Dev Cert, as most of the sites are Chinese but should contain some translations.

Failing that, you'll have to stick to apps which are signed.

You'll need to check your online authorisation is set to off and option to install "All" programs is selected within your settings.

I followed these instructions: How To Fix Nokia 5800 Expired Certificate Error During SIS Installation?

Only problem is they don't work.

I've got a Dev Cert as well as a key file and s80signsis from one of those sites but being chinese they don't give you any indication of how to use them.
