    can't send email

I can't send or receive email just today, no problem before. There is a circle with diagonal line symbol up near the battery icon I don't remember ever seeing. Could it be a setting has changed ? Thanks.

Thank you Elboyero. I have not tried a soft reset. How do I do that? I'll try that today. Has anyone ever seen that circle with the line through it on the top of the screen when I'm on email? Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens.

Take out the battery for a few seconds, reinsert it and start your phone, if the issue continues do a soft reset :

A soft reset only reboots your phone, but leaves all messages, contacts, calls, applications, themes and so on. Follow the following steps to perform a soft reset:

Type *#7780# from the standby screen
Enter the security code (default 12345)
    Confirm the soft reset

Thanks Elboyero, I took out the battery and then had to do the soft reset and still can't send or receive emails. That icon with the circle with the diagonal line through it still appears at the top of the screen when I am on an email screen I believe to indicate that the email will not work maybe because it is disabled or something. If I knew what and why that circle with the diagonal line was there I think I would have my answer. Do you or anyone else have any ideas about that? Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Try to reconfigure your emails accounts: Menu > Communications. > Messages >Options > Configuration > E-mail.

Ok, I go to communication then messaging then options but then it doesn't give configuration as a choice. After options is open or change menu view or move or move to folder or new folder or download applications or memory details or help. If I choose open it goes to the screen with new message, inbox, my folders, mailbox. My server is AOL and I've put it in again several times. Under "email settings" >mailbox in use, it says "none" . Could that be the problem?
    Thanks for your time Elboyero.

In the "email" windows press Options at the bottom, there you´ll see: Change-New mailbox-help-quit. Press Change and insert the required information for your AOL, I also recommend you to include others mailboxs, like gmail, hotmail or any other that you use, pressing New.

We are making progress thanks to you Elboyero. I added AOL and set it as default (don't know why it had changed) Nokia messaging is also there. The circle with the diagonal line is still there. I can send and receive email but I have to connect to aol manually (I am asked "connect to mail box?" which is a hassle and when I type in a name to send to it doesn't pick it up from my contacts so I have to type out the entire email address. Not like it was before. I wonder if there settings that would get it back the way it was?

Elboyero, do you think a hard reset would put the phone back the way it was when I bought it? Then I could just put aol mail back. I don't have all that many contacts or downloads...what do you think?

JerryC, a hard reset should put your phone back to the original way and obviously that circle would disappear. Anyway, before doing that, and if you or any friend are in Twitter. look in there for @NokiaCareUS or/and , @mikemacias and post your issue to them. Mike is a real genius and knows very well the E71, so maybe he will know what' s the reason for that circle and how to solve the problem. Another thing that you could do is to contact your operator and ask them about your problem. OK ,if you are not lucky with them backup your data and go ahead with the hard reset.

Hi JerryC, here two answers received at Twitter about your issue:

"Trying to help your friend right now. Sounds like an AOL problem maybe", from @mikemacias

"Is it a circle with a pointer in it. Do you have messages that are stuck in your outbox?", from @nokiacareus.

go to twitter and answer them.
