Enable theme effects on the N97 (works on 5800XM too)

Guide on how to install theme FX
First step is to have your phone hacked, there are many guides on the forum for that, you have to use HelloOX2 from helloox2.com, download it, and sign it using a 17 cap devcert
To get a devcert use this short guide to obtain one from opda.net.cn

    1. Open up ROMpatcher and enable the open4all patch

    2. Download the theme effects that you want to use
    3. Open up X-Plore or Y-Browser (or any other preferred file explorer)
    4. Zip the downloaded effects and send them via BT/USB
    5. Copy 101f84b9 from Z:/resource/skins to C:/resource/skins (note that some effects already have the files in the downloaded file)

Nokia 5800 users, copy the skins folder from Z:/resource/skins and don't overwrite it with the one included in the zip file, thanks Mr G

    6. Locate the file you just copied and extract effects and skins folders to C:/resource/

    7. Copy the C2Z patch to E:/Patches (download from C2Z patch: RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nokia N97 users who have updated to v12 have to use this C2Z patch http://kongshare.com/?d=OfqHDz7kvt-C...rmware-v12.zip
The old version would crash the phone! DO NOT use it
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    8. Close the files manager and open up ROMpatcher (if it's already open, close it and reopen it)
    9. Enable the C2Z patch and add it to auto start

    10. Go to Settings -> Themes -> General -> Options -> Theme Effects -> On (if they're already on then turn them off then on)

The FX should be applied. If ROMpatcher is working properly then the effects will be enabled automatically at each start

    Theme effects:
Kongshare's down, you have to download all the files in one zip file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dmiy2zmzmbz/all (upload by Mr G.)
Do check out his thread which has an up to date list of theme fx

Added, even if it was a joke
If the skins folder isn't used then the custom menu pop ups aren't activated right?

    Step 5
Also, should I upload the effects as attachments or would they consume bandwidth?

Yeah i know about step 5 but i'm saying in those packs there is an Effects and a skins folder, 5800 owners do not need to do anything with the skins folder from it.

Regarding the files, there okay as is at the moment, for bandwidth you'll need to talk to Brandon.

Do you not think that theme effects just slow the device down?

Did you know that your Nokia comes with a 2 year warranty? Did you know that Carphone Warehouse are Nokia Repair Centres?

    MohhamadAG,

Excellent tutorial, thanks. I finally got it to work when I realised where I was going wrong - on line 6 of your tutorial it says to put the files in c:/resource/apps, when they should be in c:/ resource, as can be seen in the illustration that follows that instruction.

I mention it because it had me going round in circles for a while and maybe others will not realise and therefore never get it to work.

    Cheers,

    Barrie

I'm using X-Plore, there's a fully functional trial that has no limits (except a 3 sec start up delay)
Modo is not needed, X-Plore can browse all folders using the open4all patch.
If you still want to use Modo, install virtualkeys.

Copy whats in Z\resources\skins, then make a skins folder in E drive, paste the contents from C\resources\skins and then move it to C.

Using the Nokia file manager I managed to move the folder (Skins) to C\Data but not to C\resources as that file does not show up on filemanager
This is why I rarely bother hacking phones etc

    Starscream installed and working !

Thanks for your help Paul !

I'm off for a play around with various effects now .

I take it you have to remove the current effects package from C\resources before putting a new one there ?

Nah you can just overwrite the files
You can also mix various kmls to make your own personalized effects
The best fx I've used were the ones called Ultimate (by Mr G)
Found them on SF forums, I don't know if they're the files hosted some posts before this one.

Looks like the transition on the main screen does not work after installing these mods, anyone else seen that? What I mean is when you are on the main screen, if you swipe your finger across the screen, all the widgets etc. dissapear. Before I hacked and / or installed these theme effects the transition was quite nice, now it just changes the screen. Am I explaining myself?

    Cheers,

    Barrie

See if you have 3 ActiveIdle(...) files, if you do then reply, if you do then open notepad, paste this

Still the same. Do I need to reboot the phone maybe? Gonna try that now and see what happens.
