    Nokia messaging.

    Ok, so what's the deal?

I shy away from using this because it tells me it's a trial version and I might have to pay one day.

I'm *not* paying for email on my phone, something which is free for other smartphones (lets ignore BB here).

I noticed it's come with the latest dumbphone, the 6303i classic.

First question - is there a date when they will start charging for it?

Second - is there any idea how much it will be?

I don't want to start using it now, only for it to suddenly switch to having to pay.

Cheers, be interesting what they say if they do. bit annoying being stuck in limbo with email on my phone at the moment.

Last time I used it, while the UI was OK, it was slow, buggy and, the most annoying thing for me,it maintained a constant open connection to netwrok or wifi. It could not be set to just check emails every so often..eitheir off and no updates, or constantly on..
A stupid way of doing things

mine can, you can set it to either check every however often for a set peak time, eg. 8am to 6pm, checking every hour, and at the weekends every 4 hours. or you can turn it off completely

Apart from business, I don't see how charging for email is viable.. If they'd start charging I'd use the web to check said email: it works very well with gmail on Opera and my home email as well..

Cool..I wonder when that was introduced. I even tested it after it "graduated" and it still didn't offer that possibiliy.

The app depends on the device used, the N97 used an external app, the N86 uses an internal one (same as the N900).
Nokia Messaging is push email, so it sends the email to your inbox as it arrives at the server.
Twitter / Hagop Kavafian: #Nokia #Messaging is not f ... mentions that Nokia sent him an email stating that he had to pay to start using it

No, there is no word on when they will start charging for it. I guess its just a disclaimer if they decide to charge for. Maybe something they plan to do when they work out all the bugs. If you want a really good email client(although still in beta), I recommend Seven. It is free and has more options than Nokia messaging. I presently just use Nokia messaging since it comes with the E75, but if they start charging I will surely use Seven. Here is the link.

Nokia Messaging is weirdly using my Operator network internet connection to display images in mails, anyone else encountering the same issue ?
The connection used to sync and receive mail is home Wifi

Just update Nokia Messaging version today to 10.2.0.4, now images are displaying correctly without the need of Operator network.
It's look more stable and faster too.

    P.S. Sorry for double messages...
