The first thing EVERY user should do is use Nokia Software Updater to make sure they have the newest firmware.

Once that is done this is an essential first step with the N-95...

Other than that the rest can vary depending on the model of N95 you have and what you are looking for in a phone.

There's a stickied thread in this forum and it's actually called "MUST-HAVE APPS FOR THE N95"! :P

hairil's links are good too, plenty of good stuff.

Personally, my top 5 apps would be (Google or search this forum for download links):
    - FlipSilent [silences ringing phone when flipped over]
    - irRemote [allows you to use phone as TV/hifi/computer/etc. remote control]
    - Mobile Web Server (+ Yahoo Widgets + S60 plugin) [allows you to display details of the phone (battery, signal, texts, calendar etc.) on your computer with Yahoo Widgets]
    - emTube [view and download YouTube videos to your phone]
    - SlideHelper [it makes noises when I open and close the slider! And it does other things.]

If you want to show off to your friends you should probably get all the silly pointless apps like LightSabre, PyPiwo, and all that.

    My essential apps are...

Ultimate voice recorder...record every phone conversation incoming and outgoing.

Slidehelper.....Slide down to end a call/turn phone screen off

Large time....Have the time displayed in HUGE numbers.

Remindme....Reminds you of missed calls/text with periodic reminders.

Voicemode...When you cant be bothered to type, talk to your phone and it converts voice to text!

calcium....Simple but perfect calculator (much easier than the nokia one)

taskman...See whats running and kill any app/memory viewer

x-plore...view files on your phone/send apps&games via bluetooth

stopwatch plus....and countdown timer and counts UP too

resco viewer...view photos quickly as thumbnails rather than sequentially like the default

photorite...same as above but take pics and alter them (make ur friends head big etc)

    encyclopedia....a mobile version of wikipedia

    Best converter....convert everything to anything

    msdict....collins dictionary and thesaurus

Theme diy&pic2theme... create your own themes on the phone from a image!

    smartmovie...watch different video formats

    divxplayer..same as above

screensnap....take a pic of your phones screen as a jpeg.

These are my "cant live without" apps

and thanks to davers, im now going to check out iremote.

thats the think about the n95, theres always something new and cool to try!
